The authors study a class of linear and nonlinear equations with interval coefficients in the setting of modal interval arithmetic. The latter provides a semantic relation between the formal algebraic solutions in the setting of Kaucher's generalized interval arithmetic and the solutions of corresponding real-valued systems with coefficients belonging to given intervals. Properties of the Jacobi interval operator are discussed. An iterative algorithm using this operator is formulated and studied with respect to convergence and numerical examples are presented.
