The author employs infinite products that arise in the theory of partitions to obtain explicit formulae for the Laplace transforms of some random variables introduced by \textit{R. Cowan} and \textit{S. N. Chiu} [J. Appl. Probab. 31, 301--308 (1994; Zbl 0798.92016)] to model the mechanism of a DNA molecule.
