The paper is devoted to the problem of exact boundary controllability of nodal profile for unsteady flows on a tree-like network of open canals. First, the authors present the result on exact boundary controllability for one-dimensional quasilinear hyperbolic systems and apply it to the problem of unsteady flows in an open canal. Then, they consider the star-like network of open canals and adduce both known and new results. The latter are used in the final section where the authors establish the exact boundary controllability of nodal profile on tree-like network of open canals with general topology. The principles of providing the nodal profiles, of choosing the boundary controls and of transferring the boundary control are also presented.
