The authors perform a linearized stability analysis of the flow in elastic-plastic fluid-saturated porous media with incompressible constituents. A relationship is established between the result of this analysis and the results of analyses based on acceleration waves given by \textit{B. Loret} and \textit{O. Harireche} [J. Mech. Phys. Solids 39, No. 5, 569-606 (1991; Zbl 0749.76075)] and \textit{B. Loret} et al. [Int. J. Solids Struct. 34, No. 13, 1583-1608 (1997; Zbl 0944.74609)]. An expression is found for the growth rate of acceleration waves in the non-associative case when their velocity is real, and a clarification is provided for the growth or decay rates of waves in the interior of flutter region.
