Denote by \(\Lambda_ k({\mathbb{R}})\) the Zygmund class of continuous functions f satisfying the conditions \(| \Delta_ h^{k+1}f(x)| \leq c| h|^ k\) and \(| f(x)| \leq c\), x,h\(\in {\mathbb{R}}\), where \(\Delta_ h^{k+1}f(x)\) is the difference of order \(k+1\) with step h at x. The author obtains characterizations for the class of all restrictions \(f|_ F\), where F is a closed subset of \({\mathbb{R}}\) and \(f\in \Lambda_ k({\mathbb{R}})\). The characterizations are expressed by using some properties of interpolation polynomials of \(f\in \Lambda_ k({\mathbb{R}})\), having knots in F.
