Let \(A\) be a unital complete lmc (locally \(m\)-convex) algebra, the topology of which is defined by a separating directed family of algebra seminorms. Let \(D\) be a Banach algebra continuously embedded into the bounded part of \(A\). One of the main topics is to study when an element of \(A\) attains an inverse in \(D\). Several properties of certain kinds of operators are obtained. It should be noted that G. Allen is in fact G. R. Allan.
