The author studies time optimal and minimum norm problems for systems described by an evolution equation of the form \(y'=Ay+u\) and a target condition \(y(\bar t)=\bar y\). Several relations are established between these two classes of problems. In particular when \(\bar y \in D(A)\), the two problems are equivalent. The author provides a counterexample for which a solution to the minimum norm problem does not satisfy the maximum principle when \(\bar y\) does not belong to \(D(A)\). The same question for the time optimal problem is still open.
