    Let \(p\) be an odd prime, and assume that \(p_1 \equiv p_2 \equiv 1 \bmod p\) are also prime. Let \(k(p_j)/\mathbb Q\) denote the cyclic extensions of conductor \(p_j\) and degree \(p\). Let \(K_\infty\) be the \(\mathbb Z_p\)-extension of \(K = k(p_1)k(p_2)\), and let \(K_n\) denote its \(n\)-th layer. Then \(K_0 = K\) and \(K_1 = KF\), where \(F/\mathbb Q\) is the cyclic extension of degree \(p\) and conductor \(p^2\). Using a criterion due to \textit{G. Cornell} and \textit{M. Rosen} [Ill. J. Math. 32, 453-461 (1988; Zbl 0654.12006)], the author checks under which conditions on \(p\), \(p_1\) and \(p_2\) the field \(K_1\) has trivial \(p\)-class number, and then uses a result of \textit{T. Fukuda} [Proc. Japan Acad., Ser. A 70, 264-266 (1994; Zbl 0823.11064)] to deduce that the Iwasawa invariants \(\mu(K)\) and \(\lambda(K)\) vanish in these cases.
