The authors consider the autonomous system \(Tq''+ \nabla V(q)= 0\), \(q\in \mathbb{R}^2\), where \(T\) is symmetric, invertible, real matrix. Some geometric conditions are given that provide the existence of periodic trajectories of special structure and of homoclinic trajectories.
