The author considers the problem of constructing the boundaries of discontinuities for a piecewise smooth function and determining its jump values. Questions related to this problem have been studied earlier as applied to \(X\)-ray tomography. In the paper under review the author proposes a new approach to solve the problem and gives explicit formulas for constructing the boundaries of discontinuities and determining the values of jumps of a piecewise smooth function \(f(x)\). The algorithms are easier to implement and require a significantly smaller amount of computation than those known earlier.
