The authors consider the generalized Riesz potential \(I^{\alpha (x)}\), which is defined as \[ I^{\alpha (x)}f(x)= \int_{X}(d(x,y)) ^{\alpha(x)-s}f(y) \,d\mu(y),\quad 0<\alpha(x)<s \] where \(\alpha(x)\) is in a weak-Lipschitz space, \((X,d,\mu)\) is a space of homogeneous type and it is assumed that \(\mu B(x,r)\leq c r^{s}\). They prove extensions of \textit{D. R. Adams}' trace inequality [Studia Math. 48, 99--105 (1973; Zbl 0237.46037)]. The results include a trace inequality for generalized Riesz potentials in Lebesgue spaces with variable exponent and they also derive criteria for the validity of a two-weighted inequality in the case of classical Lebesgue spaces.
