In [\textit{B. Farb} and \textit{L. Mosher}, Geom. Topol. 6, 91--152 (2002; Zbl 1021.20034)], the notion of convex cocompactness is defined for subgroups \(\Theta<Mod(S)\) of the mapping class group of a closed hyperbolic surface \(S,\) by analogy with convex cocompactness in the theory of Kleinian groups. Let \(S\) be a hyperbolic surface and let \(\overset{\circ}{S}\) be the surface obtained from \(S\) by removing a point. If \(M=\mathbb{H}^{3}/\Gamma\) is an orientable finite volume hyperbolic 3-manifold that fibers over \(S^{1}\) with fiber \(S\) then there is a natural injection \(\Gamma\rightarrow Mod(\overset{\circ}{S}).\) In the present work it is shown that each finitely generated purely pseudo-Anosov subgroup \(G\) of \(\Gamma,\) when \(G\) is viewed as subgroup of \(Mod(\overset{\circ}{S}),\) is convex cocompact in the sense of Farb and Mosher.
