This paper proves that in dimension 5 there are exactly seven connected and simply connected contact Lie groups with uniform lattices. Five are Lie groups \(G\) which are central extensions of a solvable symplectic Lie group with a lattice that extends to \(G\). These are the 5-dimensional Heisenberg group, \(\mathrm{Heis}^5\), \((\mathrm{Heis}^3\times {\mathbb R})\times_{\omega_2}{\mathbb R}\) where \(\omega_2\) is the symplectic form on \(\mathrm{Heis}^3\times {\mathbb R}\), and \(B_j\times_{\omega_j}{\mathbb R}\) (\(j=3,4,5)\) where \(\omega_j\) is the symplectic form on the semi-direct product \(B_j={\mathbb R}^3\rtimes_{F_j}{\mathbb R}\) with \(F_j:{\mathbb R}\longrightarrow \mathrm{GL}(3,{\mathbb R})\) given by three particular but natural matrices. The remaining two cases are semi-direct products \({\mathbb R}^3\rtimes_{b_i}{\mathbb R}^2\) \((i=1,2)\) with \(b_i:{\mathbb R}\longrightarrow \mathrm{GL}(3,{\mathbb R})\) given by two particular matrices. In [Differ. Geom. Appl. 26, No. 5, 544--552 (2008; Zbl 1152.53064)] the first author classified 5-dimensional simply connected contact Lie groups. Using this classification, the authors of the present paper determined which ones admit uniform lattices and which ones do not.
