Consider an \(n\)-variable polynomial ring \(K[x_1,\ldots ,x_n]\) over a field of characteristic \(0\). Its Volterra derivation \(\delta\) is defined by \(\delta (x_i)=(x_{i-1}-x_{i+1})x_i\). The author shows that the ring of constants of \(\delta\) is freely generated by \([(n+2)/2]\) polynomials which he defines explicitly.
