The authors propose a general research program about the study of the `natural dynamics' on character varieties and wild character varieties. (The notion of wild character variety was introduced by Ph. Boalch.) They illustrate the program in the context of the Painlevé differential equations \(P_{VI}\) and \(P_V\). The program includes the study of confluence phenomena for the equations of (wild) isomonodromic deformations and the corresponding confluence phenomena for the (wild) dynamics, using the (generalized) Riemann-Hilbert correspondances. The intention is to continue works of Ph. Boalch, B. Dubrovin, M. Mazzocco, K. Iwasaki, M. Jimbo, M. van der Put, M.-H. Saito, S. Cantat, F. Loray, B. Malgrange, T. Kawai, Y. Takei, K. Ueno and E. Witten.
