A topological space is said to be realcompact provided that it is homeomorphic to a closed subspace of a Cartesian product of copies of the real line [\textit{R. Engelking}, General topology. Rev. and compl. ed. Sigma Series in Pure Mathematics, 6. Berlin: Heldermann Verlag. (1989; Zbl 0684.54001)]. In [\textit{F. Yıldız} and \textit{L. M. Brown}, Topology Appl. 156, No. 11, 1970--1984 (2009; Zbl 1195.54055)], the present authors have introduced the notion of realcompactness for ditopological texture spaces under the name of real dicompactness. We recall that textures provide a convenient setting to study fuzzy sets as crisp subsets of some basic set (textures are claimed to be strictly more general than fuzzy sets), and ditopological texture spaces appeared then as a natural outcome of an attempt to represent fuzzy topologies by bitopological spaces [\textit{L. M. Brown} et al., Fuzzy Sets Syst. 147, No. 2, 171--199 (2004; Zbl 1070.54002), ibid. 147, No. 2, 201--231 (2004; Zbl 1070.54003), ibid. 157, No. 14, 1886--1912 (2006; Zbl 1111.54004)]. The current paper introduces the concept of extended real dicompactness for ditopological texture spaces (Definition~3.1 on page~83), gives its characterization, which is analogous to the above-mentioned classical one (Theorem~3.10 on page~86), and considers its application to the so-called Hutton spaces (a point-free approach to fuzzy topology) [\textit{B. Hutton}, Topology Appl. 11, 59--67 (1980; Zbl 0422.54006)]. The paper is well written, but lacks somewhat its required textural preliminaries. Moreover, the results of the authors are often quite technical and rather difficult to follow. Under certain background in textures, however, the paper will be of interest to all those researchers, who are actively dealing with categorical approach to point-free topology.
