Let \(S\) denote an \(n\)-dimensional simplex in hyperbolic space \(H^n\) or in spherical space \(S^n\). Suitably using the dihedral angles or the vertex distances of \(S\), the Gram matrix and the ``edge matrix'' of \(S\) are introduced. Then, continuing investigations of L. M. Blumenthal and W. Fenchel, the author gives necessary and sufficient conditions for a given \((n(n+ 1)/2)\)-tuple of positive reals to present a system of possible edge lengths of a simplex \(S\) in \(H^n\). And based on determinants, also exact conditions for a system of edge lengths of \(S\) in \(S^n\) are derived.
