The aim of the present paper is to study the equivalence of the power-law and exponential-law rates of convergence in the Birkhoff individual ergodic theorem with the same asymptotics of the probability of large deviations in this theorem. This is done for bounded averaged functions, for Anosov systems, for uniformly hyperbolic dynamical systems modeled by a Young tower with exponential tail and for Teichmüller flows.
