Let E be the canonical inductive limit of a sequence of normed spaces \(E_ n\). The author shows among others that the following are equivalent: (a) a bounded set in E is also bounded in \(E_ m\) for some m; (b) for every Cauchy sequence \(\{x_ k\}\) in E such that \(\sum^{\infty}_{k=1}x_ k\) is absolutely convergent in E, we can find n for which \(\{x_ k\}\) belongs to \(E_ n\) and \(\sum^{\infty}_{k=1}x_ k\) is absolutely convergent in \(E_ n.\) See also \textit{Yu.
