This paper may be considered as a supplement to the previous paper of the authors [Ann. Mat. Pura Appl. (4) 190, No.~2, 263--275 (2011; Zbl 1221.42036)], where they studied the two-weight problem for the maximal operator in variable exponent Lebesgue spaces: \[ \left\|v^\frac{1}{p(\cdot)}Mf\right\|_{L^{p(\cdot)}(\mathbb{R}^n)}\leq C \left\|w^\frac{1}{p(\cdot)}f\right\|_{L^{p(\cdot)}(\mathbb{R}^n)}. \tag{1} \] Here, they give an improved version of their main result from that paper (Theorem 3.2) and prove a theorem (Theorem 3.1) with another set of sufficient conditions for the validity of (1).
