A coordinate transformation, which immobilizes the boundary and a replacement of the time variable by the position of the free boundary is applied to the one-dimensional Stefan problem and a perturbation solution of the resulting equations is considered for small Stefan number. After an appropriate nonlinear transformation of the perturbation series, numerical results are compared with solutions obtained by other authors.
