The second-order system of differential equations with dissipation \[ u''+ cu'+ dAu+ kH(u)= P(t),\quad u\in \mathbb{R}^n,\quad t\in\mathbb{R},\tag{1} \] is considered. Here, \(c\), \(d\), \(k\) are positive constants, \(H:\mathbb{R}^n\to \mathbb{R}^n\) is a simply locally Lipschitz function, \(P:\mathbb{R}\to \mathbb{R}^n\) is a continuous and bounded function, \(A\) is an \(n\times n\)-matrix whose eigenvalues are positive. The author proves that there exist \(k>0\), \(d>0\), \(c>0\) such, that equation (1) has one and only one solution \(u(t)\) on \(\mathbb{R}\) bounded, which is exponentially stable. Moreover, if \(P(t)\) is an almost-periodic function, then this bounded solution is also almost-periodic. This result is applied to the spatial discretization of some second-order partial differential equations. Analogous results were obtained by \textit{J. M. Alonso} and \textit{R. Ortega} [J. Math. Anal. Appl. 196, No. 3, 965-986 (1995; Zbl 0844.34047)] under stronger restrictions.
