The author shows that the inverse scattering transform for the system \[ \partial_1 u_1= -iku_1+ q_1(x)u_2,\quad \partial_2 u_2= iku_2+ q_2(x)u_1 \] and the inverse Fourier transform give the same solution of the inverse scattering problem modulo smoother terms, in particular potentials \(q_1,q_2\in L^p(\mathbb{R})\) can be recovered from the Fourier transform of the scattering data up to functions from \(W^p_1(\mathbb{R})\). The underlying reason is that the Fourier transform and the scattering transform for this system as operators have same principal parts. The author gives rather complete references to previous work of other authors including Greenleaf, Sun, and Uhlmann (multidimensional inverse scattering).
