In this paper the author studies so called pseudoimmersive germs of complex maps. The main result shows that a holomorphic germ is pseudoimmersive if and only if it is injective. This result is connected to other papers of the author joint with \textit{H. Joris} [Arch. Math. 39, 269--277 (1982; Zbl 0504.58007), Ann. Inst. Fourier 37, 195--221 (1987; Zbl 0596.58004), C. R. Acad. Sci. Paris 305, 261--263 (1987; Zbl 0655.57024), Kodai Math. J. 13, 241--264 (1990; Zbl 0729.58011]. Some results about the real case are also considered.
