The author considers the semiflow \(\pi_\varepsilon\) on \(H_0^1(\Omega)\times L^2(\Omega)\) generated by the damped wave equation \[ \varepsilon \partial_{tt}u+ \partial_tu= \Delta_xu+ f(u)+ g(x), \quad x\in\Omega,\;t>0, \qquad u(x,t)=0,\quad x\in \partial\Omega,\;t>0. \tag{1} \] Let \(\widetilde{\pi}\) be the semiflow on \(H_0^1(\Omega)\) generated by the parabolic equation \[ \partial_tu= \Delta_xu+f(u)+g(x), \quad x\in\Omega,\;t>0, \qquad u(x,t)=0,\quad x\in\partial\Omega,\;t>0,\tag{2} \] and let \(\Gamma: H^2(\Omega)\to H_0^1(\Omega)\times L^2(\Omega)\) be the embedding \(u\mapsto (\Delta_xu+ f(u)+ g(x))\). The author proves that every compact isolated \(\widetilde{\pi}\)-invariant set \(\widetilde{K}\) lies in \(H^2(\Omega)\) and the imbedded set \(K_0= \Gamma(\widetilde{K})\) continues to the family \(k_\varepsilon\), \(\varepsilon\geq 0\) small, of isolated \(\pi_\varepsilon\)-invariant sets having the same Conley index as \(\widetilde{K}\). The author shows that this family is upper semicontinuous at \(\varepsilon=0\). The author's results extends and refines some upper semicontinuity results for attractors obtained previously by J. K. Hale and G. Raugel.
