This paper deals with stability properties of self-excited oscillating circuits. Mathematical simulation leads to differential-algebraic equations (DAEs). A generalized definition of the monodromy matrix is introduced. Then basic results of classical stability analysis of ordinary differential equations are transfered to the index-1 DAE case. The computation of the monodromy matrix by harmonic balance is discussed. Simulation examples are presented.
