The author gives a criterion for a Schottky group \(G\) there should be a Kleinian group \(\Gamma\) such that \(G\) is normal in \(\Gamma\) and \(H=G/ \Gamma\) is isomorphic to one of the three groups \(A_4,A_5\), or \(S_4\). The argument given is of combinatorial topological nature and the criterion, which is too intricate to be reproduced here, describes the action of \(H\) on the the Riemann surface uniformized by \(G\). The author also gives an application to the associated period matrix of the Riemann surface. He also gives an example using Maskit's classification of finitely generated function groups to show that \(S_5\) cannot be realized in this way.
