Let \(G\) be a finite nonabelian \(p\)-group. \(G\) is called an \(\mathcal A_k\)-group if each of its subgroups of index \(p^k\) is abelian but this does not hold for subgroups of index \(p^{k-1}\). This is the second one of a series of papers solving the following problem due to Berkovich: Classify groups \(G\) containing an \(A_1\)-subgroup of index \(p\), the first paper is due to the authors [J. Algebra 358, 178-188 (2012; Zbl 1262.20023)]. The question is split into two parts depending on whether there are at least two \(A_1\)-subgroups of index \(p\) in \(G\) or just one. The first paper of the series solves part 2 for odd \(p\). If \(G\) is a group as in part 1, then \(d(G)\leq 3\) and \(c(G)\leq 3\). The case \(d(G)=2\) is solved in the fourth paper [J. Algebra Appl. 14, No. 2, Article ID 1550020 (2015; Zbl 1317.20018)]. If \(d(G)=3\) then \(\Phi(G)\leq Z(G)\) in which case it is said that \(G\) satisfies Property P. If \(G\) satisfies Property P then \(G'\) is isomorphic to a subgroup of \(C_p^3\). In the third paper [Sci. China Math. 58, No. 4, 763-780 (2015)] the case \(G'\cong C_p^3\) is settled, the present paper settles part 1 type groups satisfying Property P and \(G'\) isomorphic to a proper subgroup of \(C_p^3\) by determining isomorphism classes of these groups \(G\) supplying generators and relations. Moreover, we gain insight into the structure of groups \(G\) satisfying Property P.
