In this paper the authors study digital images under the view of subdivisions. Their motivation is based on the fact that given a map of digital images, there is no general way to define a map of their subdivisions called a subdivision of the map. Thus, they provide a discussion of subdivisions of digital images and maps of digital images and then they construct maps of subdivisions when the map of digital images has a 1 or 2 dimensional domain. As a consequence of this study, the authors present path covering and homotopy covering properties that play an important role in the development of the digital fundamental group. Examples and applications, which strengthen the results of the paper, are presented.
