The author extends (to a wider class of nonlinearities), a previous result by \textit{M. I. Weinstein} [Rocky Mt. J. Math. 21, No. 2, 821-827 (1991; Zbl 0732.35093)], about the existence and uniqueness of a vortex solution to semilinear elliptic equations. In the proofs, he uses ordinary differential equation phase space techniques.
