Semilinear, infinite-dimensional control systems defined in a Banach space are considered. Using the theory of strongly continuous semigroups and the Schaefer fixed-point theorem, sufficient conditions for exact controllability in a given finite time interval are formulated and proved. As an illustrative example, the exact controllability of certain semilinear hyperbolic type distributed parameter control systems is dicussed, and a sufficient condition for controllability is formulated. Moreover, several remarks and comments on controllability problems for infinite-dimensional semilinear control systems are given. The role of the assumptions is also explained. Finally, it should be stressed that similar controllability problems for general infinite-dimensional control systems have been recently considered in the monograph [\textit{J. Klamka}, Controllability of dynamical systems (Kluwer, Dordrecht) (1991; Zbl 0732.93008)].
