These notes are an introduction, with references, to both the ''classical'' K-theoretic functors \(K_ 1\), \(K_ 0\), and \(K_ 2\) as well as the higher K-functors introduced by Quillen using his plus construction. Many examples are given, and the relationship with topological K-functors is discussed.
