    Let W(z) be a rational matrix, \(W(\infty)=0,\) \(W(z)=\sum_{i>0}W_ iz^{-i}.\) Let F(z) be \(p\times p\)-, D(z) \(q\times q\)-, G and U \(p\times q\)-polynomial matrices, F and D nonsingular, and let \(F^{-1}G=UD^{- 1}=W\). The Bézoutian \(B=B(F,G;U,D)\) is the rp\(\times sq\) matrix B whose \(p\times q\) block \(B_{ij}\) is defined by \((F(z)U(y)-G(z)D(y))/(z- y)=\sum^{r}_{i=1}\sum^{s}_{j=1}z^{i-1}B_{\quad ij}y^{j-1}.\) The Hankel matrix \(H_{rs}(W)\) is defined as \((W_{i+j- 1})_{i=1,...,r,j=1,...,s}\). If \[ M_ F = \begin{pmatrix} F_ 1 & F_2 & \hdots & F_ r \\ \vdots & \vdots \\ F_{r-1} & F_ r \\ F_ r &&& 0 \end{pmatrix} \text{ and } M_ D = \begin{pmatrix} D_1 & D_2 & \hdots & D_ s \\ \vdots & \vdots \\ D_{s-1} & D_ s \\ D_ s &&& 0 \end{pmatrix} \] then (1) \(B=M_ FHM_ D.\) Further, (2) \(H=N_ FBN_ D,\) where \(N_ F=H_{rr}(F^{-1}),\) \(N_ D=H_{ss}(D^{-1}).\) The content of the paper is a proof of the new identity (2) and a new proof of the identity (1) known earlier.
