Two existence results are proved for the resonant problem \(-\Delta u= \lambda_ k u+ g(x,u)\) in \(G\), \(u=0\) on \(\partial G\). Here \(G\) is a smooth bounded domain in \(\mathbb{R}^ N\), \(\lambda_ k> \lambda_{k-1}\) \((k\geq 2)\) is an eigenvalue of \(-\Delta\) and \(g\) is a Carathéodory function satisfying additional assumptions. A nonquadraticity condition is used in the first theorem in order to be able to apply Rabinowitz saddle point theorem to conclude. For the second, a linking theorem due to the second author involving stronger versions of the Palais-Smale condition provides the main tool for the proof.
