Following their earlier work [Oper. Theory: Adv. Appl. 33, 223-247 (1988)] on proper contractions and their unitary minimal completions, the authors provide a state space characterization of the orbit of a rational matrix function W(\(\lambda\)) which is a contraction on the real line and a strict contraction at infinity, under the set of all rational symplectic transformations acting minimally on W(\(\lambda\)). They use a geometric description of all minimal symplectic decompositions of such a function.
