An automorphism \(\phi\) of a group \(G\) is called locally inner if for each finite set \(\{x_ 1,\ldots,x_ n\}\) of elements of \(G\) there exists an element \(g\) of \(G\) such that \(x^ \phi_ i=x^ g_ i\) for each \(i=1,\ldots,n\). The locally inner automorphisms of \(G\) form a subgroup \(Linn(G)\) of the automorphism group \(Aut(G)\) of \(G\). The authors investigate the properties of \(Linn(G)\), when \(G\) is a CC-group. Here a group \(G\) is said to be a CC-group if \(G/C_ G(x^ G)\) is a Chernikov group for every element \(x\) of \(G\). They prove in particular that if \(G\) is a CC-group, then \(Linn(G)\) is a pro-Chernikov completion of the inner automorphism group \(Inn(G)\) of \(G\), with respect to a suitable Chernikov residual system of \(Inn(G)\). Using this characterization they show that if \(G\) is a CC-group such that \(G/Z(G)\) is periodic but not a Chernikov group, then the cardinality of \(Linn(G)\) is \(2^{| G/Z(G)|}.\) Two subgroups \(H\) and \(K\) of a group \(G\) are said to be locally conjugate in \(G\) if there is a locally inner automorphism \(\phi\) of \(G\) such that \(H^ \phi =K\). The set \(Lcl(H)\) of all subgroups of \(G\) which are locally conjugate to \(H\) is the local conjugacy class of \(H\). The authors prove that if \(G\) is a CC-group with \(G/Z(G)\) periodic and \(H\) is a subgroup of \(G\) such that \(C_ G(X^ G)\not\subseteq N_ G(H)\) for every finite subset \(X\) of \(G\), then the cardinality of \(Lc\ell (H)\) is \(2^{| H/H_ G|}\). In the last theorem they give some necessary and sufficient conditions under which in a residually Chernikov CC-group the local conjugacy class of a subgroup \(H\) coincides with the conjugacy class of \(H\).
