On wave propagation in almost periodic structures (Q1195359): Difference between revisions

The paper gives an overview over wave propagation in periodic and almost periodic structures. Examples for almost periodic structures from the field of computational fluid dynamics (spurious waves in the numerical approximation of hyperbolic equations) and physical periodic structures (the discretized vibrating string) are given. A significant portion of the paper is devoted to a theoretical explanation of the analogy between wave propagation in dispersive media and the wave mechanics component of quantum mechanics.
