The paper summarizes a special class of astrophysical objects: rotating bodies. They are characterized by three parameters: mass, magnetic field and angular momentum. The concept of the rotator is a useful theoretical tool for describing neutron stars, white duals, magnetic stars, supermassive stars (spinars) or active galactic nuclei. The rotator interacts with its environment via electromagnetic and gravitational fields. A general classification and formulae for a multitude of possible cases are presented.
