A sharpened version of the Neuberg-Pedoe inequality by means of a recursive relation of the sides of a triangle is given. The result is used to establish an exponential generalization of the Neuberg-Pedoe inequality. The result is shown using three lemmata (one of them is the Oppenheim's inequality), Gao's inequality, and direct computations. Finally, the author remark that the obtained inequality ia an improvement of some inequalities due to Ling and Mascioni, and in some particular cases it reduces to the Finsler-Hadwiger inequality.
