It is well-known that every proper quadric which does not contain a line is an ovoid. Quadrics of this type are called ovoidal quadrics. Ovoidal quadrics of n-dimensional projective spaces (n\(\geq 3)\) were characterized by \textit{J. Tits} [Rend. Mat., Appl., V. Ser. 21, 37-59 (1962; Zbl 0107.381)] by considering sections of planes passing through a fixed point of an ovoid. Let \((P,G,\in)=\pi\) be the projective space which corresponds to the vector space V. A subset F of P is called a calotte of \(\pi\), if \(| F| \geq 2\), and \(| g\cap F| \leq 2\forall g\in G\). In this paper, the author gives characterizations of such quadrics by considering plane sections of a calotte which contains a certain set of simple points.
