In relativity, there are two types of orientation: time orientation and space-time orientation. Combining all variants, one gets 4 possible orientations for the Minkowski space-time. The deduction of this well-known property is the main purpose of the present paper. It is done in a quite abstract way, and includes a thorough discussion of the orientation-invariance properties of the ingredients of the Maxwell equation in an arbitrary number of dimensions. Unfortunately, the paper suffers from some unjustified polemics against other approaches to the same problem.
