The authors have studied proper \(\mathbb R\)-actions on hyperbolic Stein surfaces. The main result of this paper is the following. Theorem 6.2. Let \(D\) be a simply-connected bounded domain of holomorphy in \(\mathbb C^2.\) If the group \(\mathbb R\) acts properly by holomorphic transformations on \(D,\) then the complex manifold \(D/{\mathbb Z}\) is holomorphically equivalent to a domain of holomorphy in \(\mathbb C^2.\)
