Let \(M\) be a real hypersurfaces in \(\mathbb{C}^{n+1}\). Assume that \(0\in M\) and consider the group \(\roman{Aut}_0(M)\) of germs of bi-holomorphic maps \(f\), defined in a neighborhood \(U_f\) of \(0\), such that \(f(0)=0\) and \(f(M\cap U_f)\subset M\). When the Levi form of \(M\) is non-degenerate, this is a Lie group of dimension less or equal to \(n^2+1\), and this value is attained when \(M\) is a non-degenerate affine real quadric. In this paper the Authors investigate the case where \(M\) is not locally CR diffeomorphic to an affine quadric. They assume that \(M\) is non-degenerate and is given in normal form at \(0\) [see \textit{S. S. Chern} and \textit{J. K. Moser}, Acta Math. 133 (1974), 219--271 (1975; Zbl 0302.32015)]. They show that, when \(\dim_{\mathbb{R}}\Aut_0(M)=n^2\), the group \(\Aut_0(M)\) consists of linear transformations of \(\mathbb{C}^{n+1}\) and characterize the corresponding \(M\). This is always the case when \(\Aut_0(M)\subset\text{GL}(n+1,\mathbb{C})\) and either \(\dim_{\mathbb{R}}\Aut_0(M)\geq n^2-2n+3\) and \(M\) is strictly pseudoconvex, or \(\dim_{\mathbb{R}}\Aut_0(M)\geq n^2-2n+4\) and \(M\) is pseudoconcave (i.e., its Levi form has eigenvalues of opposite signs). Finally the authors characterize the normal forms of strictly pseudoconvex CR hypersurfaces with \(\dim_{\mathbb{R}}\Aut_0(M)= n^2-2n+2\) and of pseudoconcave CR hypersurfaces with \(\dim_{\mathbb{R}}\Aut_0(M)= n^2-2n+3\).
