In this paper, the authors consider diagonal maximality of operator algebras in the algebra \(B(\mathcal H)\) of all bounded linear operators on a complex Hilbert space \(\mathcal H\). A subalgebra \(\mathcal A\) of \(B(\mathcal H)\) is said to be maximal with respect to its diagonal if it cannot be properly contained in any other subalgebra with the same diagonal. Two classes of subalgebras with this property are considered. Let \(\mathcal T\) be a hyperreducible, maximal triangular algebra with a totally-atomic or nonatomic diagonal \(\mathcal D\) and let \(\xi\) be a separating vector of \(\mathcal D\). Then the subalgebra of all operators \(T\) having a common eigenvector \(\xi\) in \(\mathcal T\) has diagonal maximality. On the other hand, if a double triangular lattice of projections in a matrix algebra generates the whole matrix algebra, then the reflexive algebra defined by the double triangular lattice of projections also has diagonal maximality.
