The authors consider the Hubbel rectangular source integral (HRSI) of the form \[ \int^b_a {1\over\sqrt{x^2+1}}\text{tan}^{-1}\left( {a \over \sqrt{x^2+1}} \right)dx. \] This integral is the leading term in a series of solutions arising in the computation of the radiation field from a plane isotropic rectangular source. For this integral, a survey of various properties is presented. In addition, a further generalization of HRSI using a modified form of the Gauss hypergeometric function is proposed.
