The paper deals with the second order Sturm-Liouville boundary value problem \[ - (\rho(t)\Phi_p(x'(t))'+s(t)\Phi_px(t))= \lambda f(t,x(t)), \quad t\in[a,b]\tag{\(*\)} \] with boundary conditions \[ \alpha x'(a)- \beta x(a)=A, \quad \gamma x'(b)+ \sigma x(b)=B,\tag{\(**\)} \] where \(\Phi_p(x)=|x|^{p-2}x.\) Under some conditions imposed, the authors are able to provide an interval \((\lambda_1, \lambda_2)\) such that for all \(\lambda\) in this interval there are at least three solutions of \((*)\), \((**)\). The results are obtained by applying a three critical points theorem due to Averna and Bonanno. A simplification of the assumptions is given in the last theorem, while two examples illustrate the results.
