Let \(E\) and \(F\) be Banach spaces. A mapping \(f:E \to F \) is called \(\alpha \)-subhomogeneous if \(\|f(\lambda x)\| \geq \lambda^ \alpha \| f(x)\|\) for \(x\in E\) and \(0<\lambda <1\). In this paper, the authors extend Pietsch's domination theorem to \(\alpha \)-subhomogeneous mappings to characterize absolutely \((\frac p\alpha ;p)\)-summing mappings. The well investigated classes of multilinear mappings and homogeneous polynomials are integrated into this concept. Therefore, the authors determine the relations between new and old dominating measures as well as new and old constants occurring in the characterizing inequalities.
