We give a short proof of \textit{B. E. Johnson}'s result [Pac. J. Math. 23, 97-99 (1967; Zbl 0152.328)], that for each non-unital \(C^*\)-subalgebra A of an A\(W^*\)-algebra B, such that the annihilator of A in B is zero, the idealizer of A in B is (canonically) isomorphic to the multiplier algebra M(A) of A. This implies that any closed, essential ideal I of B determines B completely, since \(B=M(I)\).
