The paper treats an axial incompressible unsteady flow of second order fluid in a pipe. For parameter \(\alpha\) in constitutive equation equals to \(0\), \(1\over 2\) and \(1\), analytical solutions are obtained. For other values of \(\alpha\) between \(0\) and \(1\), numerical simulation is performed by means of Laplace transform and Crump algorithm. Comparison between analytical and numerical solutions shows an excellent agreement. Inspite of absence of any comparisons with experimental results, the authors claim that the model and the analytical method employed in the paper may be useful for engineering analysis.
