The aim of this book is to present a Floquet theory for partial differential equations with periodic coefficients by extending ideas developed by Ehrenpreis, Malgrange and Palamodov for the case of constant coefficients partial differential equations. Let us describe the contents of the book. Chapter 1 presents the theory of holomorphic Fredholm operator functions and recalls basic material in functional analysis, operator theory and complex analysis. Chapter 2 introduces functional spaces, classes of differential operators with their pseudo-inverse and presents the Zak transform which plays the role of the Fourier transform in this context. Chapter 3 presents the Floquet-Bloch theory for a relatively general class of hypoelliptic periodic operators on \(\mathbb{R}^ n\). Chapter 4 is devoted to the properties of solutions of periodic equations: existence of fast decaying solutions, solvability of non-homogeneous equations, structure of the spectra, etc. Chapter 5 considers evolution operators and Chapter 6 presents rapidly other problems like equations with deviating arguments, equations with coefficients independent of some variables, invariant differential equations on Riemannian symmetric spaces of non-compact type. The material presented here is complementary of what is presented in other classical books like M. Reed and B. Simon or \textit{M. S. P. Eastham} [The spectral theory of periodic differential equations (Scottish Acad. Press 1973; Zbl 0287.34016)] which are more interested in spectral theory.
